Jesuit, SCC lone survivors in LHSAA baseball playoffs
Jesuit and St. Charles Catholic are the lone survivors among New Orleans Catholic school baseball teams in the state high school playoffs, which move into the quarterfinal round this week.
Jesuit defeated Destrehan in a best-of-three regional round series, 1-0 and 5-3, to move into the Class 5A quarterfinal round. The Blue Jays were scheduled to meet the winner of the Hahnville-Catholic High game, which underwent a delay because of inclement weather.
St. Charles Catholic earned advancement to the Class 2A quarterfinals by defeating Sterlington in two of the three regional round games they played.
The Comets’ next opponent is Menard. The winner of that single-game series advances to the Allstate Sugar Bowl/LHSAA tournament in Sulphur, May 13-14.
