Seven local Catholic baseball teams earn playoff berths

 
Seven New Orleans-area Catholic schools will be among the state baseball championship contenders, and five will open the bi-district round playoff at home.
 
After missing the 2015 playoffs, De La Salle returns as a No. 10 seed. The Cavaliers take a 20-4 record into the Class 3A bi-district round against No. 23 Pine Prairie (13-10).
 
The highest seed is St. Charles Catholic (23-7) at No. 2. The Comets were scheduled to host No. 31 East Feliciana (10-1) in the Class 2A opener.
 
No. 10 Archbishop Hannan (17-6) will be at home against Class 2A opponent Doyle (15-13), the No. 23 seed.
 
In Class 5A, No. 5 Jesuit (23-7) will host No. 28 Ouachita (16-14); No. 8 Brother Martin (17-7) will host No. 25 St. Paul’s 16-10); and No. 17 Archbishop Rummel (19-11) will visit Walker (19-11).
