Where the boys aren’t; the Top 28 basketball tournament

It was an imperfect end to an imperfect boys’ basketball season.
For the second consecutive year, there will be no local Catholic schools in the Top 28 tournament, although six qualified for the state playoffs.
The highest seed, St. Paul’s, was eliminated by East Ascension in the Class 5A regional round, and No. 10 St. Augustine fell to nemesis Scotlandville in the quarterfinals. No. 7 De La Salle also lost in the Class 3A quarterfinals to University Lab.
No. 11 Archbishop Hannan, No. 23 Pope John Paul II and No. 27 Brother Martin were eliminated by higher seeds in early rounds.
St. Augustine was the last team to make the final four in 2014, but lost in the semifinals to Scotlandville, 47-46.
