Catholic schools foster works of mercy
Archbishop Gregory Aymond accepts the offertory gifts from students at the Catholic Schools Week Mass Feb. 4 at St. Dominic Church in New Orleans. Each school participating in the Mass also brought up a scroll indicating how it would live out the corporal and spiritual works of mercy this year.
“Pope Francis has called us to celebrate this year as the Year of Mercy, and that means we are more open to God’s mercy,” Archbishop Aymond said. “Pope Francis said this is the year where we want the whole church to think about God’s mercy. As God is merciful, so we must be merciful.”
