Local group organizes annual March to D.C.
The Pilgrims for Life of New Orleans is organizing its annual bus trip to Washington, D.C., for the 2016 March for Life.
Organizers Paul and Barbara Sutphen invite young adults, adults and families on the trip, which will mark Paul Sutphen’s 43rd pilgrimage.
The trip will depart Jan. 20, at 2 p.m. from Divine Mercy Parish, 4337 Sal Lentini Pkwy. (Loyola Drive), in Kenner.
The bus will arrive in Washington, D.C., at approximately 2:30 p.m. on Jan. 21. Pilgrims will attend the Vigil Mass for March for Life at the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception.
On Jan. 22, pilgrims from New Orleans will attend an adult Mass and rally, then gather at the march site at noon for inspirational talks, followed by the march. Pilgrims also will visit legislative offices and have dinner at Union Station.
The trip will give travelers one day – Jan. 23 – to tour Washington, D.C., before departing in the evening from Union Station. On Sunday, Jan. 24, the group will stop on the way home in Hanceville, Alabama, to attend Mass at Mother Angelica’s Shrine of the Blessed Sacrament. Estimated arrival time in New Orleans is 6 p.m.
The cost of the trip, including transportation and two nights in D.C., is $300 per person; $550 for two people; and $600 for three family members. Meals and tips are not included.
