Weekly Lenten talks for women at retreat center
The Archdiocese of New Orleans Retreat Center has organized inspirational talks for women during Lent called “Becoming a Woman of Faith: Lessons on Living a Fulfilling Life.”
Morning and evening sessions are available starting March 3 with singer, music minister, mother and wife Lorraine Hess talking about “Swimming Upstream Against the World” through music, humor, stories and prayer from 5:30-7:45 p.m.
The series continues:
➤ March 5, 9:30-11:30 a.m.: “Discovering Your God-Given Gifts” with New Orleans native Katie Scott, a Houston-based interior designer.
➤ March 17, 9:30-11:30 a.m.: “Finding Holiness in One’s Everyday and Often Chaotic Life” with Cindy Bowman, former teacher, TEC retreat facilitator, Marriage Encounter mentor, CCD teacher who is a wife, mother and soon-to-be grandmother.
➤ March 24, 9:30-11:30 a.m., “Embracing Conflict: How to Handle Difficult Conversations” with Dr. Jan Lancaster, superintendent of Catholic Schools Archdiocese of New Orleans. She brings wit and wisdom from being a teacher, principal, wife and mother.
➤ April 7, 5:30-7:45 p.m. : “The Joys and Struggles of Family of Origin Issues” with Father Joe Krafft, a certified spiritual director and Pastoral Formation director at Notre Dame Seminary; and Jan Tate, Archdiocesan Spirituality Center spiritual director who has given numerous retreats and marriage preparation classes.
➤ April 9, 5:30-7:45 p.m.: “The Law of the Gift: Balancing Work and Family and Transforming Suffering to Joy” with Dorinda Bordlee, human rights advocate, chief counsel of the Bioethics Defense Fund, a pro-life public interest legal organization.
➤ April 16, 5:30-7:45 p.m., “He’ll Carry You” with award-winning Catholic singer, music minister Trish Foti Genco.
