Kids can wear red, help Catholic Charities Feb. 12

Catholic Charities Archdiocese of New Orleans is inviting schools to participate in the “Show Your Heart!” fund-raiser day Feb. 12.

To participate, all schools have to do is let students wear their favorite red T-shirt for a day if they donate a $1 (or more) to Catholic Charities.

Then the schools are asked forward the money to Catholic Charities Archdiocese of New Orleans. Businesses and individuals can also participate.

Last year, 39 local Catholic schools – 12 high schools and the remaining grammar schools – participated and raised $16,179 for Catholic Charities to support the programs and services serving the community’s poor and vulnerable, said Anna Toujas, associate director of communications for the Archdiocese of New Orleans/Catholic Charities Archdiocese of New Orleans.

Catholic Charities New Orleans serves approximately 90,000 families annually.

If Feb. 12 is not convenient, schools can pick any day that week, Toujas said.

For details, call Catholic Charities at 592-5688 or visit their website at www.ccano.org to donate.
