Good Sams needs donations

The non-profit Good Samaritan Ministry at St. Luke the Evangelist Catholic Church, 910 Cross Gates Blvd., Slidell, is asking for donations of food, money or time to help fill Thanksgiving baskets for the needy to be distributed Nov. 24 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Approximately 225 families are given baskets through this annual effort.

Families in need can register every Wednesday through Nov. 12 at the Good Sams office on the St. Luke Parish campus.

A typical basket includes a turkey gift certificate, traditional side dishes and dessert, with donations made from local elementary and high schools, St. Luke’s CCD program, local Boy Scout troops and individuals.

Since 1993, the Good Samaritan Ministry has helped those in crisis in the Slidell area by providing immediate financial assistance for emergencies.

To help, call Alice Newman with the Good Samaritan Ministry at (985) 641-6421.
