Join Clarion Herald’s Italy pilgrimage
Father Ronald Calkins, the moderator of the Clarion Herald and pastor of Mary Queen of Peace Parish in Mandeville, will join Msgr. Frank
Giroir and Father Rodney Bourg as spiritual directors of a 12-day Clarion Herald pilgrimage to Italy Oct. 20-31.
The pilgrimage is the first sponsored by the Clarion Herald in more than a decade.
During the pilgrimage, pilgrims will visit Venice, Padua, Florence, Assisi, Sorrento, Herculaneum and Rome, and they will have a general audience with Pope Francis if he is in residence.
Msgr. Giroir is pastor of St. Anselm Parish in Madisonville, and Father Bourg is pastor of Most Holy Trinity Parish in Covington. Mass will be celebrated daily, including inside St. Peter’s Basilica in Rome.
“We’re very excited to lead this pilgrimage, and we hope it will be a source of blessings to those who are able to join us,” Father Calkins said. “The last time the Clarion Herald sponsored a pilgrimage was well before Hurricane Katrina. I believe there will be strong interest from people in the archdiocese who want to experience religious sites that are foundational to our Catholic faith.”
The full itinerary for the 12-day pilgrimage is available on the Unitours website at https://www.unitours.com/tour-DLB1020BF.aspx
