Popular Abp. Hannan exhibit continues
The “Archbishop Wore Combat Boots” exhibit, detailing the life of former New Orleans Archbishop Philip M. Hannan, will run through May 2014 at the Old Ursuline Convent Museum, 1116 Chartres St., New Orleans.
Entrance is through St. Mary’s Church. An original copy of the eulogy Archbishop Hannan gave at the 1963 funeral Mass with hand-written notes is part of the exhibit, as are letters the he wrote to Jacquelyn Kennedy Onassis. There also are videos by current Archbishop Gregory Aymond and Archbishop Hannan talking about his life, and a side chapel of ornate vestments that Archbishop Hannan wore and a military room that tells the story of his paratroop chaplain days during WWII. Tickets are $10 for adults, $9 for seniors and $5 for students. Student and group tours are available.
