Archdiocesan 'Family and Faith' app available for Smartphones

The Archdiocese of New Orleans has designated 2013 as the “Year of Family and Faith,” and now it has a new Smartphone app that will help users focus on strengthening both their faith and family life.

The “Family and Faith” app – available as a free download in both the Apple Store and Android Market (search “Family and Faith”) – offers users brief scriptural reflections, tips on family life and relationships, family life resources from the Archdiocese of New Orleans and optional push notifications offering easy and fun ideas to keep family and faith at the forefront of daily activities.
Evangelizing tool
“This is an exciting new feature we can offer individuals and families, whether they are Catholic or not, in New Orleans and beyond,” said Sarah C. McDonald, archdiocesan director of communications. “Church leaders across the globe are using new media to evangelize, and this is just one way we are participating in the new evangelization.”

The Family and Faith app is a result of collaboration between the archdiocesan Office of Communications and the Family Life Apostolate. It was developed in collaboration with a local advertising agency, Hero Farm.

Some of the app’s features include:

➤ Year of Family and Faith calendar of events

➤ Tips and articles on family communication

➤ Inspirational messages  and reflections to focus your faith and center your family life

➤ Fun family quizzes that test your knowledge and help you learn more about your family members

➤ Helpful resources in the archdiocese on family life and faith life

➤ Push notifications for updates on major Family and Faith events, and fun reminders and tips to help make this year special for your family
